How to Link Back Tutorial (For Linky Parties)

So I wanted to join a linky party at Serenity Now. But in the directions it said I must link back to the host’s party post. Well I had NO idea how to do this. What the heck is she talking about?? Several fast emails later, it was thoroughly explained to me by Amanda of Serenity Now. I now totally understand how to do this, which is good because most linky parties expect you to do this. I thought I would pass along my newfound knowledge for the other newbies out there. Here it is in seven simple steps!

Here we go;

Step 1. Go to the host blog site. Click on the title of the party post to bring up that URL. Right click and copy the URL of the party post.

Step 2. Open up your website’s dashboard and click edit on the post that you are linking.

Step 3. Somewhere near the bottom of your post, but before your signature if you have one, add a line saying something like “Linking to Blahdy Blah Blog”

Step 4. Highlight Blahdy Blah Blog and click on the Link button in your editing toolbar.

Step 5. A little box will pop up. Paste in the URL to the party post.

Step 6. Click ok and the box will disappear. Blahdy Blah Blog is now a link to the party host post. (and isn’t that a tongue twister lol)

Step 7. You must hit Publish at the bottom of your Blogger editing screen to save these changes.

And there you have it! Again, HUGE thanks to Amanda at Serenity Now for all of her help. It’s awesome to see experienced bloggers helping out the newbies with such kindness and grace.

      Thanks Christine, I sure hope so. I know I felt silly not knowing something so seemingly basic (everyone else in blogland could!) and I just new there had to be more people like me. Now we can all enjoy Linky parties!
