To make a long story short.....I have made CHEAP makeup remover that WORKS! Yes, I said it. I did it! What? You don't believe me....you'll have to try for yourself, right after reading this post.
Ingredients
1 cup Distilled water
1/4 teaspoon Liquid Castile soap (Dr. Bronner's baby mild for me)
1 teaspoon Olive oil (any will do)
Mix 1 cup distilled water with 1/4 teaspoon liquid castile soap and 1 teaspoon olive oil.
I added mine to a "drip" bottle (ya know the kind where you tip the lip piece to open a small hole and it drips out) using a funnel. Shake well before each use. Open bottle, drip several drops of cleaner on a makeup pad or washcloth. Rub very gently on eyelids as they are very delicate, You can rub with a little more vigor everywhere else on your face. Even takes off lipstick.
Cost break down is fuzzy for me (I SO don't do math) but...I'm figuring this for less than a buck, buck fifty at most. MUCH cheaper than any OTC type makeup remover. Next time I'll try to do better on the math lol.
I hope you enjoyed another tutorial with me. I try to make them interesting and useful!
Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

What a great tip! I'm not sure where to find Castille soap but I'll check out Shopper's Drug Mart!
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela,
DeleteLiquid castille soap is usually found at health food stores, or larger chain grocery stores. Walmart does not carry it. I find mine at Publix or Whole Foods but I'm in GA so that may not work for you. Check a health food store if you can, if not it can be found online.
Thanks
Lynn
How smart is that?! Who knew you could make your own? And I just bought my own makeup removers this morning!! Thanks for sharing at oopsey daisy!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Talk about timing! LOL
DeleteI loved sharing at Oopsey Daisy, thank you for the opportunity Alison.

Wow! Thanks for the tip! I'm not much of a make up person now. However, I used to go crazy with crazy eye shadow shades and nail colors and everything! Now,I stick to minimal everything! :) A sheen of gloss, a light eye liner that does not bewitch my eyes and and stick to a mild matte effect cream!!:)
ReplyDeleteHey Jen - yeah me too, I got my makeup phase over fairly young. But, as a redhead with really blonde lashes I HAVE to wear mascara or I feel I look lifeless. And that stuff can be hard to get off! But this works like a dream.
