My Tattoo Removal Adventure - Visit 1

So I've had this tattoo now for over a year that I absolutely HATE. Let's just say drinks were had by all, including the tattoo artist. It was supposed to be a very small heart with an N (hubby's inital) in it. Very small being the key words.  By the time I realized it looked horrible it was to late to do anything about it. So, I've suffered for over a year.....thinking that's just how it's gonna be, that's what you get.

Until 1 day, my dear husband says "ya wanna get that removed"? My answer? "DUH". Hubby works for a company that makes these lasers, and he's become friends with the doctors that he sees as part of his job. I was going to be one of the test patients for the new laser! When I got to WIFH (more on them later) I found out that they would also do the one on my left breast that I hated! Sorry, no before pic of that one since I didn't know we were going to remove it. It was 2 cherries with stems and a ribbon through both stems. It had meaning once, 17 years ago!

So, here I am....ready to start the process of having 2 tattoos removed. Pretty nervous even though my hubby was there for support (and directions so I could get home again  LOL).

Dr. Kulkin and his staff took GREAT care of me. Explained everything each step of the way, made me as comfortable as possible, and showed amazing courtesy. WIFH is a wonderful place to explore your best YOU! They offer laser hair removal, SmartLipo Laser Liposuction, facial rejuvanation, and tattoo removal, and many other wonderful services. Dr. Kulkin is kind and takes the time to explain everything that is happening. His staff is courteous and friendly. The offices are lovely. You couldn't ask for a better experience.

Lasering my wrist took way less than a minute. I heard small crackling sounds and felt almost a static electricity burst on my wrist. That was it! That's how much it hurt.

Then we moved on to my breast.

Again, way less than a minute. I knew what to expect this time and I was still really surprised. This time there were no crackling sounds and no static electricity feel. Dr. Kulkin said it was because that tattoo was so much older and faded. NO pain at all. I felt nothing but some heat. AMAZING!

These are shots of both areas 4 hours later.

I was told to keep ice on it for the first couple of hours, use Aquaphor every few hours for aftercare (Neosporin is NOT an ok substitute, it will cause more blisters than normal). So far I've had no pain in either area, I feel ok, and I LOVE that I'm having this done. Wooohoo for me! I go back in mid January for my next treatment (every 6 weeks - 6 to 8 sessions total). I'll keep you posted on how the next sessions go. Maybe this will help someone who is on the fence, worried about the pain, or after effects.
