T's new desk - for $12.50!!!

This is the last corner of T's room re-do, ya know, the one I wouldn't show you? Well here it is! Kinda bare. I have 3 beautiful framed 8x10 Kanji prints to go over the black dresser. And I'm going to decorate a big bulletin board to go over the desk with cork and a magnet board.

But Hubby found this desk at an estate sale. The sticker said $25 and the woman said that was half off. He took this to mean it had been $50 and was now $25. NOPE. We paid $12.50 for this beauty!!! Now, the hubs knows not from real wood, so it will take quite a bit of sanding of the laminate to make paint stick (unless any of you have a better idea? Please??) but this will be gorgeous after some paint. Should I paint it black to match all the other furniture? Or a dark red with an antiquing stain over it?

Hubby really did a great job on this one!
